Board Games

Strategy in this discipline is based on the use of best responses due to the limitations of the competitive system. Although many different paths can be taken to achieve a consistent result, the nature of the system is limited to only a few options in any given situation. As such, to be competitive in this discipline, it is necessary to have knowledge of all responses, in relation to every situation, and without regard for the opponent's mindset.

Practitioner skill level within this discipline is easily deciphered based on knowledge of responses. Initially, the fundamental aspects are an adequate basis for strategic implementation, but the end result is immediately evident due to a transparent system.

  •  Novice
    • Basic system operation
    • Principle implementation
    • Fundamental positioning
  • Intermediate
    • Response assessment
    • Movement forethought and prediction
    • Depth of opponent knowledge assessment
  • Advanced
    • Assimilation of response principle
    • Implementation of best responses

Implementation of such strategy, at the furthest extreme, would always lead to a fixed outcome at equal skill levels. For example, in Chess, with two equally matched practitioners, the matches could only end in stalemate.
"An idea is something that can be reconsidered and evolved by simply looking from a different perspective. It's important to remember this when engaged in any endeavor."
